The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Murphy Ranch

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Murphy Ranch

The Murphy Ranch is located 15 miles south of Gering, Nebraska. The ranch consists of 1680 acres and
borders the Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area to the west, Bead Mountain Ranch to the north, private
land to the south and Buffalo Creek WMA to the east. The land was previously owned by D.A. Murphy,
who had the desire to ensure the property would remain as open space. His desire resulted in a
generous gift to The Nature Conservancy via a life estate to Myron and Marge Taylor who previously
managed the property for 50 plus years. The ranch is very diverse in topography ranging from steep
canyons and bluffs to flat prairie that provides for a wide array of wildlife and plant communities. The
property is managed by Bead Mountain Ranch and is subject to the rules and regulations that WMA’s
have for recreational use by the public. The parking area is located off Old Stage Hill road, east of US
Hwy 71.

What we do is forever & Forever is a very long time.™️

Our objective is to manage these lands and other properties for the benefit of wildlife, native plant communities, environmental studies, and for the outdoor enjoyment of the public. Please respect and enjoy these lands and refer to the Rules & Regulations on the website.
